Rules help you automatically assign your planned contract budgets correctly in COMMITLY, without any manual work.
You use rules whenever you want to process certain budget entries automatically because they occur regularly.
Rules ensure that your contract budgets are assigned cleanly, consistently and always correctly, even if you have many recurring contracts.
Proceed as follows:
Switch to the Rules tab.
Click “+ Add New Rule” to create a new budget rule.
Enter a meaningful name.
In this section, define when the rule is triggered.
Options:
If a transaction …
all
any
… meets these conditions:
contains
contains exactly
equals
does not contain
Tag
Source
Using “+ Add condition” you can combine further conditions.
Then …
Map directly to Category (-> select)
Add tag.
Click “Save” to activate the rule.
From this point on, the rule is applied automatically to matching budgets.
Your rule now works automatically in the background and ensures that planned budgets are correctly:
mapped,
tagged,
without manual rework.
Set rule priority for budgets (contracts)
Rule priority determines the order in which the existing contract rules are applied.
Rules higher up in the list have a higher priority and are checked first.
To adjust the order, under CONTRACTS > Rules click SET PRIORITY.
Then move the desired rule to the desired position using the drag & drop icon (six dots).
The new order is saved automatically after every change.
Note: New rules are always added at the end of the list with the lowest priority.
The changed order is applied immediately to newly detected or not yet assigned contracts.
Contracts that have already been assigned are not reassigned automatically.
If the new rule order should also be applied to these contracts, the existing assignment must first be removed.
This triggers the automatic assignment again.
