How are Direct Debits handled in COMMITLY Bills?

In COMMITLY Bills, you can mark incoming invoices that are automatically collected from your bank account via SEPA Direct Debit. This ensures that these invoices are not additionally included in the regular payment run.

1. Select SEPA Direct Debit as the Payment Method

Open the relevant incoming invoice in COMMITLY Bills and select “SEPA Direct Debit” as the payment method during invoice review.

This tells COMMITLY that the payment will be automatically collected by the supplier.

2. What Happens to the Invoice Status?

Invoices with the payment method “SEPA Direct Debit” skip the “To Pay” status.

  • Without approval policies: The invoice moves directly from “New” to “Payment in Progress”.

  • With approval policies: After approval, the invoice moves from “In Approval” to “Payment in Progress”.

3. How Is the Direct Debit Reconciled?

Once the supplier has collected the amount from your bank account and the corresponding bank transaction appears in COMMITLY, you can reconcile the invoice with the matching transaction under OPEN ITEMS → Matching.

Important to Know

COMMITLY does not initiate the direct debit itself. The amount is automatically collected by the supplier. Selecting “SEPA Direct Debit” as the payment method ensures that the invoice is not additionally included in the regular payment run.
